A Procedure is -- Step-by-step instructions Collect Sample Receive patient’s lab orders Enter lab orders into computer Gather collection tubes and equipment Prepare patient Etc.

A Good Procedure is -- Like a recipe A reasonably skilled employee can follow the procedure and produce the desired outcome.

A Good Procedure describes -- Purpose (But) Scope (Etendue) Responsible parties (Responsabilités) Describes the equipment, materials and supplies needed The step-by step instructions (Procédure) Result interpretation and actions needed References
