What it means to volunteer Role of a STEM Volunteer Serve as a “Content Expert” for the Teacher No need to be a nuclear physicist – you’re helping with elementary/middle school concepts. Provide a “Face” for Science & Technology Students are seldom aware of science and technology careers. AWIM STEM Volunteers provide this connection to your chosen profession by simply sharing what you do at work and applying it to the AWIM student experience (it’s easy and the kids love it!). Interact with Teachers & Students in the Classroom All levels of time commitment are appreciated. HAVE FUN! SAE is focused on “Filling the STEM pipeline” – this visual representation shows SAE’s educational program overlaid on the research-based stages of the building this foundation to build/fill the pipeline.
