Family Activities Abound! Targeting Southern Ontario family visitors, local chalet owners and Collingwood residents through an extensive media and public relations campaign, the event will feature … More than thirty presentation ice sculptures in Collingwood’s Historic Downtown Wagon rides, throughout our Historic Downtown Activity Centres featuring….. Ice games and blocks to play with, snowshoeing and the famous Scavenger Hunt on New Year’s Eve Arts and crafts, contests and a gingerbread build off Home-made candy, soup, chili and hot apple cider…yumm! Carving Demonstration Stage Artists create ice sculptures daily that celebrate our past Battle of the Chain Saws Carvers go head to head with chain saws to create ice sculptures on site – competitive and lots of fun • ‘Battle of the Chain Saws’ This is a staged high impact visual performance in which four carvers go head to head and carving a one block sculpture in a designated timeframe. It is an elimination style tournament between the four carvers. The host will be a local media personality and would involve audience participation throughout in voting the best result. This event would be staged twice during the Festival – once on the launch day – Saturday, December 27 and once during the mid-week timeframe to build mid-week visitation. • ‘Celebrity Carve Off’ – Media Celebrities have the opportunity to carve a block of ice on stage. They will have a designated timeline, with the assistance of a professional carver. The audience then votes for the winner. This will be staged mid-week, as well as the Sunday of the initial weekend to built awareness and mid-week visitation.
