Junior TO Senior Year Transition Making the most of the final year at Shawsheen Valley Technical High School Presenter - Jobee

Cooperative Education Every other week employment in field. Juniors are eligible beginning 4th quarter. Must meet grade/attendance/discipline requirements (see webpage for details). A drivers license or means of transportation. Cooperative education office is open during the summer, however it is best to set up a job prior to leaving in June. What every Junior Should Know Career Cruising (explore careers, explore colleges or update your portfolio). Naviance (used to complete the college application process and send official school records / teacher letters of recommendation). Course Selection (think about your post HS plans, taking Spanish or not) Meet with your counselor (parents should come in as well)! Calendar of events (SAT’s, scholarships etc…) Resumes, Transcripts (what is the process?) Deadlines Count! Cooperative Education Presenter - Terry

Mass Community college opportunities All community colleges have agreements with 4 year Mass. State Universities Commonwealth Commitment through Mass Transfer- www.mass.edu/MAComCom Guaranteed admission to Mass State University with a 2.5 GPA and a tuition discount for a 3.0 GPA A2B Degree-Complete 60 credits before transferring and save an avg. of 28%. Umass / State University system Admissions standards Fall 2017 and beyond [Minimum of 17 College Preparatory courses needed in the following areas] English [4 – College Preparatory {CP} courses] Mathematics [4 – CP courses “Algebra I & II and Geometry or Trigonometry, or comparable coursework, including mathematics during the final year of high school”.] Sciences [3 – CP courses (drawn from Natural Sciences and/or Physical Sciences and/or Technology / Engineering) including 3 courses with laboratory work.] Social Sciences [2 – CP courses (including 1 course in U.S. History).] Foreign Languages [2 – CP courses (in a single language).
