TRiO Student Support Services Federally funded program New Grant Award is $621,969 (Successfully since 1989) Serve disadvantaged students Primary goal is for participants to graduate with an Associate’s degree and obtain a Bachelor’s degree Serve 365 participants Participants are low income and/or first generation college students.

Our Expectations All SSS participants WILL graduate from Wallace Community College And transfer to a 4-year College/University And graduate with a Bachelor’s Degree
First-Year College Experience The Bridge Program Sophomore Challenge First-Year College Experience Recent High School graduates who have met the FYCE qualifications and are in their first-year of college at WCC The FYCE Students participate in a summer Leadership Retreat and preparatory workshops. Participants who are in their second year at WCC These students participate in a career exploration internships and co-op opportunities.
TRiO Educational Talent Search Goals: Decrease the dropout rate Increase the high school graduation rate Increase the number of youths from disadvantaged backgrounds who complete high school and enroll and graduate from postsecondary education institutions. Services provided: Academic – assessment, assistance with course selection, student success workshops, report card checks, professional tutoring Advising – personal, academic, financial aid, career exploration Cultural Experiences – cultural enrichment activities & visits to college/university campuses About: Grant award is $246,597. Successfully awarded since 1993 Serves 583 students (Grades 6-12 and adults to age 27) Serves Abbeville Elementary School & Abbeville High School, Barbour County Intermediate School, Barbour County Junior High School & Barbour County High School, Admiral Moorer Middle School & Eufaula High School, Russell County High School

TRiO Upward Bound Goals: About: This program is designed to generate in program participants the skills and motivation necessary to complete a program of secondary education and to enter and succeed in a program of postsecondary education. About: Grant Award amount is $297,299 Successfully awarded since 1992 Grant for 72 high school students at three area high schools: Barbour County High, Bullock County High, Eufaula High, and Abbeville High School
