Presentation transcript:

Once chapter 4 Date: Objectives Warm –up – reading journal Read Chapter four Continue examining Felix’s innocence and the theme of ‘keeping the faith’. (Again, like Of Mice and Men) Practise reading aloud. Warm –up – reading journal “ All he wanted to do was play a little trick and now he thinks he’s shot an innocent kid”. Write down this quote and a response. (What do you think, remember, feel – one or two sentences)

Reading pages 27-37 11 pages – 11 readers Green card to person who reads best aloud before my time as your teacher is over. Remember the tips Read forward – not down (aim your voice) Proper posture = open diaphragm Slow pace, pause at full stops and commas for breath. Relax, getting nervous affects your voice.

Reflection journal Three tasks Write and answer the questions below. Write a 2-3 line summary of what is going on in the story. Write down any questions or thoughts you have about what just happened. Does Felix have a positive attitude do you think? List what he could complain about and how he feels “lucky”. Bad things are happening here. What are they and how does innocent Felix perceive (see) them?

Cool down Question Brain facts. It is a normal defence mechanism for the brain to explain things wrong so as to protect yourself. Being sad physically saps your energy away. Being happy gives you more energy. Do you think Felix could make this journey if he was aware of every truth. (Nazis, death, evil or that Trump would be president)
