French & Indian War In 1754 - the 13 colonies are well established. They operated as 13 separate colonies. Each colony: Was founded for distinct reasons Elected its own government Had its own laws, currency, flag, and militia for self-defense

French & Indian War What were some of the reasons why colonists felt more allegiance to their individual colony than to the group of 13 colonies? As tension with the French colonists was building up, English colonists in America had a choice to make - unite as one country, or fight the French as individual colonies.
