Performance and reliability over drive lifetime Drives are aging during the use and this aging might cause product to fail. To maintain or even improve the performance and reliability of the drive, different maintenance actions are needed (Replacement, Retrofit, Upgrade, Maintenance) Often product is used longer, than the product is manufactured (Active phase) To quarantee the availability of the services after the Active-production phase, ABB has introduced 4 phase life cycle model (Active, Classic, Limited, Obsolete) © ABB Group November 11, 2018 | Slide 2

Drive life cycle management model Sales and manufacturing phase Complete life cycle services Limited life cycle services No services available Product Product is in active sales and manufacturing phase. Serial production has ceased. Product is often still available for spare part or extension purposes. Product is no longer available. Services Full range of life cycle services is available. Product enhancements may be available through upgrade and retrofit solutions. Limited range of life cycle services is available. Spare parts availability is limited to available stock. No life cycle services available. Replacement Migration of limited and obsolete products is usually supported. Migration to the active product generation is highly recommended. Migration to the active product generation is the only possibility. This slide presents, what different life cycle phases really mean and how product is supported in different life cycle phases © ABB Group November 11, 2018 | Slide 3

Drive life cycle management model Life cycle announcements Sales and manufacturing phase Complete life cycle services Limited life cycle services No services available New product is released for sale Volume production ceases The period of complete life cycle services ceases Product support ceases Limited life cycle services No life cycle services This slides presents, how ABB maintains the product life cycle model Life cycle change announcements are distributed half a year prior to the life cycle change For larger life cycle changes, announcements might be distributed even earlier. (e.g. ACV700/Sami Star to limited) Complete life cycle services © ABB Group November 11, 2018 | Slide 4

Life cycle services for ABB low voltage drives Complete life cycle services Limited life cycle services Service agreements Installation and commissioning Training Spares and consumables Maintenance Repairs Engineering and consulting This slides illustrates, what life cycle services are available at different phases of life cycle. In limited phase availability of any other service than end of life and replacement services, is not quaranteed. In obsolete phase, there are no services available and this is why it is not illustrated in the slide. Extensions, upgrades and retrofits End of life services Replacement © ABB Group November 11, 2018 | Slide 5
