What you need to know about IB and the Diploma Programme

Over half a million graduates since 1970 Available in English, French, Spanish with examinations in May and November each year Diploma students take six subjects plus they write a 4,000 word extended essay, complete a course in theory of knowledge, and complete a number of creativity, action and service projects The diploma is well recognized by the world’s leading universities Alternatively, students can opt to take individual certificates in one or more subjects Many IB schools teach the Diploma Programme along-side national programmes The DP courses online project allows students to study a variety of Diploma subjects with other students from around the world led by an IB teacher and distance learning online

College Admissions Most IB diploma students are accepted by their first choice college. Currently have students at Duke, Emerson, Dartmouth, Princeton, in Venice More likely to achieve academic honors Graduate earlier and at a much higher rate than other groups of students.

Universities across the world accept IB examinations and IB Diplomas for college credit.   Texas Senate Bill 111 makes it mandatory for all public Texas colleges and universities to grant a minimum of 24 credit hours for all IB Diploma holders. Students who do not receive a full IB Diploma are still eligible to receive college credit for individual IB tests. The credits and scores vary from University to University. Generally, students who score a 4 or higher are eligible for college credit.   Texas A&M IB Credit  http://dars.tamu.edu/Testing/AP,-SAT,-ACT,-and-Other-Information-for-Incoming-F   University of Texas IB Credit  http://catalog.utexas.edu/general-information/academic-policies-and-procedures/center-for-teaching-and-learning/course-placement-and-credit-by-examination/ Baylor University IB Credit  http://www.baylor.edu/irt/index.php?id=74596 Texas Tech IB Credit  http://www.depts.ttu.edu/registrar/private/faqs/?category=Test%20Credit Texas State IB Credit http://www.txstate.edu/trec/studentTesting/examsforCrdit/ib.html University of Houston IB Credit http://www.uh.edu/admissions/admitted/ap-transfer-credit/ Sam Houston State University IB Credit http://www.shsu.edu/~tst_www/IBProgram.html College Credit
