#SafeDriver ROAD SAFETY, A MAJOR PRIORITY FOR TOTAL “I adapt my speed without ever exceeding the speed limit” Awareness Meetings, 2017

ROAD SAFETY, A MAJOR PRIORITY Road safety is a major priority for Total, which aims to be recognized as a benchmark for HSE. Road accidents remain a leading cause of serious accidents at Total. All accidents can be prevented, especially through shared vigilance. #SafeDriver, an awareness campaign focusing on six topics identified by analyzing accidents over the past few years Total and Roads, Each Year 700 million* kilometers covered 50 million tons* of goods transported 1.4 million passengers carried * By Total and the contractor fleet #SafeDriver – Awareness Meetings – “I adapt my speed without ever exceeding the speed limit” – 2017

COMMITMENT NO. 4: I ADAPT MY SPEED WITHOUT EVER EXCEEDING THE SPEED LIMIT #SafeDriver – Awareness Meetings – “I adapt my speed without ever exceeding the speed limit” – 2017

Why you should adapt your speed 1 in 6 severe accidents is caused by speeding. (Group-wide) Adjust your speed to be safer Always adjust your speed to road configurations and never exceed the speed limit. Speeding always makes accidents worse. The stopping distance is the sum of the distance traveled by the vehicle during the driver’s reaction time and the braking distance. The distance traveled by the vehicle during the driver’s reaction time depends in particular on driver fatigue. The reaction time can range from less than one second to two seconds, or even more. The braking distance depends on the vehicle, the type and condition of the road and weather. Stopping distance? Speed and stopping distance #SafeDriver – Awareness Meetings – “I adapt my speed without ever exceeding the speed limit” – 2017

PLUS… The heavier the vehicle, the greater the braking distance. Braking distance doubles on wet roads. MORE A collision at a speed of 50 km/h is equivalent to falling four stories.
