The Purpose of Personal Hygiene To ensure the safety of the food you help make and the safety of the people who eat it.
Relating Personal Hygiene to You If you are sick If you have cuts or sores What you do before arriving at work When you get to work When you leave the production area
Hygiene - If You Are Sick With a serious illness Could have a contagious illness Spread to others Spread to food Should not come to work With a cold Take appropriate medication Come to work Advise supervisor of illness
Hygiene - If You Have Cuts or Sores Always show wound to your supervisor Open skin Must be covered appropriately before handling food May include: New tattoos Body piercings Cuts Sores
Hygiene - Before Arriving to Work Take a shower Put on clean clothes Shave or trim beard Pull hair back into pony tail or braid
Hygiene - Before Arriving to Work Trim, clean and file fingernails Remove fingernail polish or fake nails Remove makeup, including fake eyelashes Remove all jewelry
Hygiene – When You Get to Work Make sure your shoes are clean Put on hair net and beard net Go through boot wash Wash your hands thoroughly

Hygiene – When You Leave the Production Area Remove uniform and place in “DIRTY” bin Do not take personal protective equipment (PPE) to restroom or outdoors Wash hands and put on clean uniform before returning to production area
