What is Technology? Technology is the use of tools, machines and/or skills to solve a problem or meet a need.

History of Technology Began in pre-historic times Use of stone for arrowheads, hammers, scrapers etc.

Areas of Technology Communication- The process of sending and receiving messages or information.

Manufacturing -use of machines, tools and labor to produce goods for use or sale.

Construction The process of designing and building structures.

Transportation The movement of people, goods or animals from one place to another.

Bio-Related Technology based on biology, agriculture, food production and medicine.

Pros/Cons of Technology Increased Travel +Expansion, Travel -Dependence on oil -Pollution, Landfills, Ozone Societal Impact +More contact -less human interaction +Easier lifestyle -dependency on electronics
