6th Grade Module 1 Lesson 3

Exercise 1: Student page 7 (students share sentences with pairs, then with whole class)

Let's represent this ratio in a table Exercise 2 (read the problem) (describe in detail what the problem is about, if possible, without looking back) Let's represent this ratio in a table Shanni's Ribbon Mel's Ribbon

Exercise 2 We can use a tape diagram to represent the ratio of the lengths of ribbon. Let's create one together. (record on the student page)

Exercise 3: Student page 8 Mason and Laney ran laps to rain for the long-distance running team. The ratio of the number of laps Mason ran to the number of laps Laney ran was 2 to 3. (solve problems a, b, and c independently, then go through as a class after work time is up)

Exercise 4: Student pages 9-10 Josie took a long multiple-choice, end-of-year vocabulary test. The ratio of the number of problems Josie got incorrect to the number of problems she got correct is 2:9. (solve problems a-f independently, then compare answers with a neighbor's answer)

Closing: Student page 11 Share your answers to part f

Exit Ticket (work quitely and on your own, turn in when you're done)

Problem Set: Student page 11
