Examples of Incorporating Fitness in other units

Volleyball Task 1 Bump to a partner and they will return the bump. During that time, the original bumper must run around their partner and back to their home position. Repeat a few times and then switch.

Volleyball Task 2 Bump to a partner who is lying down in a plank position. They must then pop up and return the bump. Repeat a few times and then switch.

Volleyball Task 3 Bump to a partner and they will return the bump. During that time, the original bumper must slide to the left, back to their home position, and touch the ground. Repeat a few times and then switch.

Warm-Up Task Have students jog laps around the court. When you give them a stop signal, they must drop into a Ready Position (squat). This adds a lower body warm-up and reinforces the Ready Position.

Use Equipment in Exercises Volleyballs can be used in place of medicine balls in various exercises.

Rule If a group has their volleyball go astray, all group members must retrieve it. This adds activity to the lesson, decreases wait time, and decrease risk of arguments.
