Task Manager In charge of the overall development and implementation of a Task-Based Instant Challenge
Performance Manager Responsible for the overall development and implementation of a Performance-Based Instant Challenge
Time Keeper Responsible for keeping team on track Asks the appraisers how much team is remaining The official time is kept by the appraisers Makes sure everyone has a job and is doing something to contribute to the solution When working with your team, have them ask you how much time is remaining unless the problem explicitly states otherwise
Material Manager Responsible for keeping track of all the materials Checks to make sure that the team has the materials that they need Knows where the materials are, and who needs what What can be used (modified), what can’t be used (modified) In performance based challenges, responsible for ensuring that the skit has a beginning, middle and end
Score Manager Responsible for being an expert on where the points are in a challenge Helps design a solution that gets the most points Directs team to focus on the portions of the challenge where the most points can be earned Responsible for overseeing the job, to make sure that the team is getting the maximum amount of points
Flex Team Member has the ability to float between numerous positions or fill in a new one if necessary.
Assembler(s) Responsible for assembling/building the skit or tower Somewhat mechanically inclined Knows to minimize the usage of materials whenever possible Tests the solution
Rule Person Responsible for reviewing the plans (the challenge) Knows exactly what needs to be done Discussion facilitator Knows what can not be done Which materials can’t be modified etc… What can or can’t be touched Asks the appraisers questions when they arise Never assume anything!!!
Troubleshooter Responsible for being prepared with alternative solutions when things don’t work Knows what materials are remaining Modifies or points out when the skit isn’t working (i.e. not funny, doesn’t have an end etc…) Identifies what points the team hasn’t/isn’t earning and addresses it Creativity checker Asks is this idea unique/creative How many other teams would think of this?
