Stavropol Region is situated in the central part of the North Caucasus. There are endless steppes in the east and in the north, in the west and in the south – the Stavropol Highlands. The area of the region is 66.3 thousand sq. km.

Stavropol Territory is a region of sunlight. It usually snows in winter, but severe winters are rare in this arear. Summer is warm and hot, especially in July and August. Autumn is very different season. September is usually dry. October is rainy and foggy. A real mixture of autumn and winter with heavy rains, fogs, strong winds, snowfalls comes in November. Spring comes unusually fast and lasts not very long before hot summer days.

There are 22 towns, 17 resorts and above thousand villages on the map of Stavropol Region. Here you can find people of different nationalities. The population of the territory is about 3 million people. The administrative center is Stavropol.

Stavropol Territory nature is reach and various. Some scientists call it “a museum in the open”. Lots of animals and plants live only within Stavropol Region. They are rare and need special care.

The ecological situation in the region is not very good The ecological situation in the region is not very good. Pollution of nature leads to disappearance of many species. Many mushrooms, flowers and other plants are put into the Red Book. Some insects, snakes, spiders and birds are also disappearing. Nowadays citizens of Stavropol Territory try to do their best to save the nature of the region and to help animals and plants.
