Self Esteem Project Guidelines Chapter 7:1

DO Activity – led by teacher Black Felt Tip Marker 1 piece of cardstock Colored pencils 6 Life Strategies

Colored Pencil Choose 1 color of colored pencil (or use lead pencil) Randomly draw swooping lines both horizontally and vertically across your paper (see example) Choose your 1 or 2 FAVORITE colors of colored pencil for the next task Color the drawing of yourself using those three colors – this will make “you” stand out from the background Choose 3 or 4 other colors of colored pencil for the next task Color the paper to the edges – filling in the puzzle pieces between your swooping lines with the other colors

Next… Use the felt tipped marker to write words that describe the qualities of who you ARE OR who you WANT TO BE (talents and qualities) You should have AT LEAST 15 words that describe your personality The words should be written in neat, legible letters around your drawing You may use words from the following list OR think of your own.

ON BACK 1. List the 6 Lifetime Strategies for raising your self esteem (see next slide). 2. Write a paragraph (5 sentences) that describes the following: What I like about myself – unique, positive things What types of things lower my self esteem What things I can do to raise my self esteem and see myself positively when I am unhappy with myself Remember: a paragraph must have an INTRODUCTORY sentence AND a CLOSING sentence. Be DETAILED and SPECIFIC in your writing!
