Mouth In the mouth, the teeth tear and grind feed into smaller particles. Saliva also assists in breaking down the feed.
Definition Prehension: Feed that is taken into the mouth Mastication: Chewing food into smaller particles. Saliva: an enzyme that moistens feed and starts the breakdown process.
Esophagus As soon as the feed is masticated (chewed) and moistened by the saliva, it passes through the esophagus.
