Advanced Vocational Courses into Higher Education o Extended Diploma students tend to choose HE programmes related to the vocational area they have studied. o At Truro & Penwith College in 2013, over 300 students went from vocational courses into Higher Education (Numbers are increasing each year)

Destinations CASE STUDY 1 Level 3 Extended Diploma in Public Services Tom completed the course with a Distinction profile. He has now progressed onto a Degree in Psychology and Criminology at Plymouth University

Alice achieved a Distinction profile. She is now studying on a BSc Sports Rehabilitation course at St Marys University College, Twickenham. She spends her summer working in the USA at summer camps for abled bodied & disabled children. CASE STUDY 2 Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport and Exercise Science

Frazer achieved a triple D* profile on completion of the Extended Diploma, he was also a regular member of the Elite Academy with a focus on athletics. Frazers interest in fitness and personal health led to him applying to study the FdSc in Exercise, Health and Fitness which is run at Truro College and validated by Plymouth University CASE STUDY 3 Extended Diploma in Sports (Development, Coaching and Fitness)

Matt achieved a triple D* profile on completion of the course. He was a regular member of the College Golf Academy and represented the College on a number of occasions. Matt combined his love of golf with the skills he learned on the E.Dip. by choosing to study BSc (Hons) Sports Management (Golf) at Bournemouth University. CASE STUDY 5 National Diploma in 3D Design Holly achieved a triple DISTINCTION. She studied for a BA Honours Degree in Costume Design at the London College of Fashion. Now runs her own millinery company in Truro

CASE STUDY 6 National Diploma in Travel & Tourism Carol achieved a triple Distinction in her Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Travel & Tourism. She then went on to do an Event Management Success Course at Truro College. Carol always wanted a career in travel, and is now in Lanzarote, working as a Resort Representative for a major tour operator, Thomson/TUI.

CASE STUDY 7 OCR DIPLOMA IN ADMINISTRATION (BUSINESS PROFESSIONAL) Inga is working towards achieving her Level 3 Diploma in Administration and Diploma in Text Processing (Business Professional) qualifications after completing her A Level studies here at Truro College. She felt she needed to take a gap year before continuing her studies at university. This secretarial course has given Inga additional skills and qualifications which are recognised in the workplace. She is now looking forward to using these skills as a way of funding herself through her business management degree course.

CASE STUDY 8 Extended Diploma in Business (180 credits) Josh completed his Extended Diploma in Business and having thoroughly enjoyed the marketing units, decided to study this further at degree level. However, he did not want to become heavily in debt nor did he wish to leave Cornwall so he decided to apply for the Foundation Degree in Business and Law. Currently in the second year of his studies Josh is progressing well.

CASE STUDY 9 Subsidiary Diploma in Music Nathan gained 2 A Levels and a Subsidiary Diploma in Music and is now completing the second year of a BA Hons in Contemporary World Jazz.

CASE STUDIES 10 & 11 Extended Diploma in Care Jacey achieved DDM and progressed to Brighton University to study Criminology and Applied Psychology. Kerrie achieved D*D*D* and progressed to Birmingham University to study a degree in Social Work
