The Importance Of Music By Tierra Tresvant, 7th Hour Speech

Music expresses that which cannot be said and on which it is impossible to be silent – Victor Hugo Most people already know what music is. The dictionary definition of music is vocal or instrumental sounds (or both) combined in such a way as to produce beauty of form, harmony, and expression of emotion. In this presentation I am going to list the impact music has on ourselves. My Purpose To inform of the value of music. My Claim Music is important to life in multiple ways.

Music helps with expressing emotions Both listening and writing helps with this. In writing music you get to write down what down you are feeling. Sometimes those feelings are something you’d prefer not to speak. When listening to music it helps you relate your emotions.

Music is also a way of having fun. Not all music is about being sad or in your feelings. Music is also a way of having a good time and enjoying your self. For example, dance challenges are a way of enjoying music.

Music and its effect on the Brain Music has been proven to lessen affects of motor related illnesses such as Tourette's syndrome and parkinsonism while being played. This helps add consistency to erotic motions and tics. Playing music helps to engage all parts of your brain. Musicians may be able to better solve problems. They also show advanced memory.

Disagreements Over the years music education has taken the back burner to other more “important” subjects. This is because math, reading, and science are considered to be more important in a professional career. What the former slide just showed is that music helps advance these other areas which are deemed more necessary in the workforce.

Conclusion Music is an art in which emotions are expressed, good times are celebrated, and an overall engaging experience. Others find little value in this. Although it may seem like a little detail, it has hidden benefits in which we may not always see.
