Walking in Wisdom Living In Grace A Way of Life Proverbs 1:2 "for gaining wisdom and instruction; for understanding words of insight"

“Wisdom is the capacity to see things from God’s perspective and to respond to them according to scriptural principles.” Charles Stanley “…wisdom is not knowledge alone, but the skill of living a godly life as God intended us to live.” John MacArthur

Proverbs 1: 1 - 7 (ESV) 1 The proverbs of Solomon, son of David, king of Israel: 2 To know wisdom and instruction, to understand words of insight, 3 to receive instruction in wise dealing, in righteousness, justice, and equity; 4 to give prudence to the simple, knowledge and discretion to the youth— 5 Let the wise hear and increase in learning, and the one who understands obtain guidance, 6 to understand a proverb and a saying, the words of the wise and their riddles. 7 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction.

UNDERSTANDING KNOWLEDGE How we live our lives UNDERSTANDING Cognitive Sense Making KNOWLEDGE Internal Processing INFORMATION

Sympathy is when you share the feelings of another – you have or had common experiences; you understand how they feel. How we live our lives UNDERSTANDING Cognitive Sense Making Empathy is when you can imagine how they might feel based on what you know about that person, despite not having those feelings. KNOWLEDGE Internal Processing INFORMATION

UNDERSTANDING KNOWLEDGE How we live our lives We relate; it is in our routine (muscle memory) UNDERSTANDING Cognitive Sense Making We listen; it is in our head KNOWLEDGE Internal We hear; we obtain information Processing INFORMATION

Ephesians 5: 15 – 20 (NIV) 15 Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, 16 making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. 17 Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is. 18 Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit, 19 speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord, 20 always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ

Game plan for walking wisely 1. We must choose to peruse wisdom. It’s up to each of us to determine how we will walk through this life. 2. We must seek God’s plan. The person who walks in wisdom is very aware of his life, how he affects the world, and how the world affects him. 3. We must take responsibility for applying wisdom to our lives. The person who walks in wisdom feels a responsibility for his or her actions and use of time. We have been given a limited amount of time and must spend it in a way that produces the largest amount of good.

WISDOM UNDERSTANDING KNOWLEDGE We live; it is our way of life We never stop learning, yearning and praising God WISDOM Living a Godly life We know what it takes to be saved and we aim to please God and strive for the Holy Spirit to dwell within us. We relate; we commit our lives to Jesus Integrate Biblical structure and Godly values into our lives UNDERSTANDING Cognitive Sense Making We listen; it is in our head, hearts and soul KNOWLEDGE Fear of God Grace of Christ Internal Processing The Bible Christian Books / Studies We hear; we obtain information Church/ Sermons Small Groups INFORMATION
