Real Life with Real People Welcome Following Jesus Reach Grow Go Real Life with Real People

Over the mountains and the sea, Your river runs with love for me, "I Could Sing of Your Love Forever" Written by Martin Smith Over the mountains and the sea, Your river runs with love for me, And I will open up my heart And let the Healer set me free.

I’m happy to be in the truth. And I will daily lift my hands, For I will always sing of when Your love came down.

I could sing of Your love forever.

Over the mountains and the sea, Your river runs with love for me, And I will open up my heart And let the Healer set me free.

I’m happy to be in the truth. And I will daily lift my hands, For I will always sing of when Your love came down.

I could sing of Your love forever.

It’s foolishness, I know. But when the world has seen the light, Oh, I feel like dancing; It’s foolishness, I know. But when the world has seen the light, They will dance with joy Like we’re dancing now.

Signs at the CrossRoads Trinity Lutheran Church April 2, 2017 Signs at the CrossRoads -Obedience- A dialog with John Matthew 26:36-46 Pastor Bruce Rumsch Minister of Worship & Spiritual Care

We Hear from God’s Word Matthew 26:36-46 (ESV) 36 Then Jesus went with them to a place called Gethsemane, and He said to His disciples, “Sit here, while I go over there and pray.” 37 And taking with Him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, He began to be sorrowful and troubled.  38 Then He said to them, “My soul is very sorrowful, even to death; remain here, and watch with Me.”

39 And going a little farther He fell on His face and prayed, saying, “My Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from Me;  nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will.”

40 And He came to the disciples and found them sleeping 40 And He came to the disciples and found them sleeping. And He said to Peter, “So, could you not watch with Me one hour?  41 Watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.” 42 Again, for the second time, He went away and prayed, “My Father, if this cannot pass unless I drink it, Your will be done.” 43 And again He came and found them sleeping, for their eyes were heavy. 44 So, leaving them again, He went away and prayed for the third time, saying the same words again.

45 Then He came to the disciples and said to them, “Sleep and take your rest later on. See, the hour is at hand, and the Son of Man is betrayed into the hands of sinners. 46 Rise, let us be going; see, My betrayer is at hand.”

What Grace is Mine What grace is mine, That He who dwells in endless light Called through the night To find my distant soul.

Poured mercy that would plead for me And from His scars Poured mercy that would plead for me That I might live And in His Name be known.

Where ever He is calling me; So I will go Where ever He is calling me; I lose my life To find my life in Him.

To gain the hope that never dies; I bow my heart, I give my all To gain the hope that never dies; I bow my heart, Take up my cross, and follow Him.

To know His breath alive in me; What grace is mine, To know His breath alive in me; Beneath His wings My weary soul may soar.

For death’s dark night is overcome; My Savior lives All fear can flee For death’s dark night is overcome; My Savior lives And reigns forevermore.

Where ever He is calling me; So I will go Where ever He is calling me; I lose my life To find my life in Him.

To gain the hope that never dies; I bow my heart, I give my all To gain the hope that never dies; I bow my heart, Take up my cross, and follow Him.

Where ever He is calling me; So I will go Where ever He is calling me; I lose my life To find my life in Him.

To gain the hope that never dies; I bow my heart, I give my all To gain the hope that never dies; I bow my heart, Take up my cross, and follow Him.

Take up my cross, and follow Him. I bow my heart, Take up my cross, and follow Him. Lyrics: Kristyn Getty | Music: Traditional Irish melody | Londonderry Air | Arr by Keith & Kristyn Getty | ©2008 Gettymusic & Thankyou Music | CCLI License #245589

Prayers P Let us bring our prayers and petitions to God who hears and answers the pleas of our hearts. We pray for your world and our own nation. Lord, send your Spirit into our nation and into this sin-sick world. Be with those who live in places of violence and persecution. Strengthen and save the oppressed, the persecuted, the victims of injustice, the victims of wars and all who cry to you for help. Give faithful leaders to our nation and throughout the world. Make us agents of healing in this hurting world. In your mercy, C Hear us, Lord.

P. We pray for your congregation and your whole church P We pray for your congregation and your whole church. Send faithful pastors, teachers and leaders, so that they might act as your shepherds among your people. Inspire your followers to evidence your loving gifts in their lives. In your mercy, C Hear us, Lord.

P. Lord, give us hearts that overflow with the grace and P Lord, give us hearts that overflow with the grace and love you have shown to us in Jesus Christ. Put your Word in our hearts so that we might demonstrate the new life that you have bought for us. Guide our hands as we serve, our voices as we praise, our feet as we follow and our hearts as we constantly turn to you. Make us able to choose the good you would have us do. In your mercy, C Hear us Lord.

P. We pray for the sick, the suffering, the grieving and the P We pray for the sick, the suffering, the grieving and the lonely, especially those we name in our hearts. We commit them to your loving care. Heal, help and comfort them according to your will. In your mercy, C Hear us, Lord. P These and all other petitions and requests we bring before you in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Our Father, Who art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy Name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done On earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread And forgive us our trespasses As we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation But deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, And the glory Forever and ever. Amen!

Confession and Absolution P Jesus said, “Whoever is of God hears the words of God.” C Gracious God, we confess our slowness to hear Jesus’ words calling us to choose a life of love and service. We often hear the roaring of our own willfulness and ignore the urging of Jesus to follow him. We set our own path, seek our own advantage, cling to the things we have made for ourselves and turn away from the guiding of the Spirit.

C. Forgive us,. Lord. Open our ears to hear Jesus’ C Forgive us, Lord. Open our ears to hear Jesus’ call, our eyes to see the needs he sends us to fill, our mouths to speak the good word to those who need to hear it and our hearts to receive the Spirit’s leading. Fire us by your Spirit to be about the life choices you have called us to make. Let us overflow with the doing that proclaims your very presence with us. P I have the honor and privilege, by the grace of God, of announcing to you the entire forgiveness of your sins. In Jesus Christ, you are forgiven and free—free to share the steadfast love of God with all.

The Words of Institution

"Behold The Lamb" Behold the lamb who bears our sins away, Words & Music by Keith Getty, Kristyn Getty & Stuart Townend Behold the lamb who bears our sins away, slain for us: And we remember the promise made that all who come in faith find forgiveness at the cross.

So, we share in this Bread of Life, and we drink of His sacrifice, as a sign of our bonds of peace around the table of the King.

The body of our Savior, Jesus Christ, torn for you: Eat and remember the wounds that heal, the death that brings us life, paid the price to make us one.

So, we share in this Bread of Life, and we drink of His sacrifice, as a sign of our bonds of love around the table of the King.

The blood that cleanses ev’ry stain of sin, shed for you: Drink and remember He drained death’s cup that all may enter in to receive the life of God.

So, we share in this Bread of Life, and we drink of His sacrifice, as a sign of our bonds of grace around the table of the King.

And so with thankfulness and faith we rise to respond and to remember our call to follow in the steps of Christ as His body here on earth.

As we share in His suffering, we proclaim: Christ will come again! And we’ll join in the feast of heav’n around the table of the King. CCLI Song #5003372 | ©2007 Thankyou Music | CCLI #245589

"The Wonderful Cross" When I survey the wondrous cross Words & Music by Chris Tomlin Isaac Watts, J.D. Walt, Jesse Reeves and Lowell Mason When I survey the wondrous cross on which the Prince of Glory died, My richest gain I count but loss, and pour contempt on all my pride.

See from His head, His hands, His feet, sorrow and love flow mingled down; Did e’er such love and sorrow meet, or thorns compose so rich a crown?

and find that I may truly live. O the wonderful cross, O the wonderful cross Bids me come and die and find that I may truly live.

All who gather here by grace draw near O the wonderful cross, O the wonderful cross; All who gather here by grace draw near and bless Your name.

Were the whole realm of nature mine, that were an off’ring far too small. Love so amazing, so divine, demands my soul, my life, my all.

and find that I may truly live. O the wonderful cross, O the wonderful cross Bids me come and die and find that I may truly live.

All who gather here by grace draw near O the wonderful cross, O the wonderful cross; All who gather here by grace draw near and bless Your name.

and find that I may truly live. O the wonderful cross, O the wonderful cross Bids me come and die and find that I may truly live.

All who gather here by grace draw near O the wonderful cross, O the wonderful cross; All who gather here by grace draw near and bless Your name.
