Homework Monday, November 12, 2018 Study WOW Objective: YWBAT analyze the relationship between plate boundaries and volcanic activity. Drill: What is a hot spot? Homework Study WOW

Answer A hot spot is a place on Earth’s surface that is directly above a column of rising magma called a mantle plume.

Did you know…? Kilauea, in Hawaii, is one of the most studied volcanoes in the world. It has been erupting regularly since 1983. Everyday, enough lava to pave a two lane road 32km pours from the volcano.

Today’s Activities Drill Volcanoes and Plates Conclusion

Closure Explain why there are color differences in the rocks found at different volcanoes.

Conclusion Answer Color differences result from different amounts of silicon dioxide, iron, and other constituents.
