J.C. Owens Born in Oakville Alabama, September 12 1913 and died in Tucson, Arizona March 31, 1980. Moved to Cleveland, Ohio when he was nine years old. Joined track when he was in middle school. Got the name Jesse when a teacher miss pronounced his name.
