About this series... Six week series Very basics of: Operating System Word Excel PowerPoint FirstClass Internet Explorer 11/12/2018 TechTuesdays

The Operating System Operating system - how a computer works at its most basic level To use programs like Word or Internet Explorer, we need to know the basics of how to use our computer in general. 11/12/2018 TechTuesdays

Basic tasks : Knowing the start menu Changing system settings/utilities Logging on and using the network Managing your work Left vs. Right Click on your mouse Printing - adding and using Restarting and shutting down Closing a program or folder Using the search/find feature 11/12/2018 TechTuesdays

Clicking: Right or Left? PC mice have two basic buttons: a left & right button. Macs have only one button! Left click - 90% of the time Left click - highlight, open, close, select, etc. Right click - gives you a basic menu of commands To select one of these commands, right click to open up the menu, the left click on the one you want. 11/12/2018 TechTuesdays

Printing Start>Settings>Printers to see what printers are installed Black check is next to one you currently default to (automatically uses that one) Right click for grey menu 11/12/2018 TechTuesdays

Printing Problems? Not printing but have paper in it? Right click and see if Use Printer Offline has a black check If so, left click on Use Printer Offline and will reconnect to start printing again! 11/12/2018 TechTuesdays

To add a printer... Start>Settings> Printer Left click on Add a Printer Follow the instructions Note: if just bought printer, have Tech Staff help! 11/12/2018 TechTuesdays
