Starter Write down all the different technologies you use at home for entertainment. Think about physical things, as well as websites. We will review what you use them for in minutes.

Objectives Become familiar with home entertainment technologies. Be able to assess the impact of home technologies upon society. Describe home entertainment technologies.

Multi-Part Lesson We will be exploring lots of different technologies used for entertainment. This is a MAJOR part of your examination. You will each produce your own revision guide, which discusses many aspects of each technology.

Part 1: Digital Television: Discussion Interactive TV Pay Per View Services – such as? Interactive Services Key Questions (Let’s go through these) Must Cover Interactive Television (ITV) is television with interactive elements that allow the viewer to control what is happening. Interactive television combines traditional television with interactive elements of the Internet and a personal computer, including links to web sites, e-mail, and chat rooms. In the United States of America ITV has developed to include the following services: answering questions in real time during quiz shows, Sky + / Sky HD+ Services selecting local information - news, sport, the weather and traffic news, viewing one programme, and keeping track of other TV programmes, home banking and shopping, voting in opinion polls, videoconferencing, distance learning, interactive betting, changing camera angles in football matches, e-mail, direct shopping - ordering a pizza after having seen an advertisement on television. Interactive TV – Features Review Taking part in quiz shows. Sky + / Sky HD+ Services Multi-screen - news, sport, the weather and traffic news, Home banking and shopping, Voting in opinion polls, Video-conferencing, Electronic Learning Interactive betting, Changing camera angles in football matches / selecting courts in tennis. E-Mail through your TV. Direct shopping - ordering a pizza after having seen an advertisement on television. BBC iPlayer via your TV. IPTV (anyone know what this is?)

Today’s Task Create a front page to your “Home Entertainment Technologies Guide.” Create a page/multiple pages about INTERACTIVE TV. Answer the key questions. Add appropriate graphics.
