Small Business in the U.S.A. U.S.A. is dominated by small businesses Small firms with fewer than 500 employees represent 99.9 percent of the 29.6 million businesses Employ just over half (52 %) of all private sector employees. Have generated 64 percent of net new jobs over the past 15 years. 52 % of them are home based businesses.
