In Queensland State Primary Schools Christian Religious Instruction In Queensland State Primary Schools

Why is CRI part of School Culture?   Why is CRI part of School Culture? The provision of religious instruction (CRI) in school hours in Queensland state schools is legislated by the government. Education (General Provisions) Act 2006 and the Education (General Provisions) Regulation 2006. And has been since the early 1900’s. RI has been part of school culture since the beginning of schooling in Australia as most schools were established by the churches. When this changed to a Govt run system, the importance of continuing to offer RI was recognised

Who teaches CRI? Will you? CRI teachers are accredited by their church, hold blue cards. There is training, ongoing professional development and support from CRI coordinators. CRI’s are volunteers, and we need Christians to Help spread the Gospel of Jesus. Will you? CRI teachers are people of faith who can help students see things from a faith perspective and help them understand how faith can affect life.

Who Coordinates CRI? Local Christian churches cooperate in a CRI materals, which is non denominational. A CRI Area Coordinator is the link between the churches and schools. The Ministers/Priests approve the materials. It extends the range of adults inputting into the children’s lives (Many don’t live near grandparents or have much input from their local communities) CRI teachers are also a link with local churches that have hundreds of potential volunteers who could serve their school.

Who can attend CRI? Students! Well, not prep students RI is by Parental choice Students! Students need not belong to a church to attend 20,000 attend on average each week on the Gold Coast

What happens in CRI? CRI is a weekly lesson with a variety of fun learning such as : PowerPoints, like this… Storytelling Drama Songs Games Discussions Quiz’s

How CRI benefits students Each child is valued and can… Learn to value and respect their own and others beliefs Discover what the Bible says about God, Jesus life and His teachings Develop positive values and choices CRI teachers are volunteers with blue cards, approved by their church & committed to the spiritual development of the children. Many teachers and parents don’t have the knowledge or experience to help kids in this area.
