SUMMER INSTITUTE GOALS Increase interest in healthcare careers. Improve insight into healthcare career options. Expand effective communication skills. Integrate medical terminology and exposure to reading and writing case studies.

JOB SHADOWING STUDENTS WILL BE EXPECTED TO: Act professionally and gather information during each rotation experience. Communicate effectively with staff and peers Use appropriate questioning during rotations Debrief with the group following daily rotations Conduct themselves in an appropriate manner Produce quality medical case studies and nightly homework Come prepared daily with Rotation Newsletters If incomplete, you will not attend your rotation for that day

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS APPLY TO BUTTE COLLEGE ONLINE http://www.butte.edu/admissions/apply.html You will be given an ID# This may take 7-10 days. Please do this ASAP E-mail emello@husdschools.org your ID# so that we can enroll you in the work experience course FILL OUT A CONCURRENT ENROLLMENT FORM This form must be signed by your high school counselor, principal, and parent If you lose your form, please let Ellese Mello know ASAP

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS OBTAIN NEGATIVE TB (TUBERCULOSIS) TEST  **You must complete TWO tests**  First one can be completed by your health care provider or at: Immediate Care Chico - (530) 891-1676, 376 Vallombrosa Ave Chico, CA 95926 **MUST BE COMPLETED, ADMINISTERED AND RESULTS READ, 7 DAYS BEFORE THE SECOND TEST WHICH IS SCHEDULED FOR JUNE 15** The second must be administered by Enloe Medical Center This will be administered June 15 at 1pm Results will be read – June 18 at 1pm We will go over to Enloe as a group. **You must have a parent signature on file before you can have the TB Test administered.**

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS COMPLETE ENLOE HOSPITAL’S OPPORTUNITY FOR ADVANCEMENT AND KNOWLEDGE (O.A.K.) SAFETY TRAINING MODULES You will be receiving an e-mail from Kim Woodhouse – Enloe Recruiting office You will need to complete and pass ALL Safety Training Test Modules

COURSEWORK: NOTEBOOKS POCKET NOTEBOOK CONTENTS: Hospital contact information Notes from rotation experience CLASSROOM NOTEBOOK CONTENTS: Preparatory and review material Classroom notes Nightly Homework: Case studies and rotation sheets

COURSEWORK: FINAL PRESENTATIONS PRESENTATION GUIDELINES: 5-7 Minutes in length PowerPoint Practice public speaking skills Rotational experience and aspirations will be presented FINAL PRESENTATIONS WILL BE THURSDAY, JULY 2, 2015 5:30-8:30pm Enloe Conference Center Enloe administration and staff, teachers, school administrators, family and friends will attend the final presentation seminar. Around 50 guests **Dinner will be catered**
