Pre-reading China is a very big country where different dialects are spoken. So is the USA.

Para.1 Believe it or not, there is no such thing as standard English. Para.2 When people use words and expressions different from the “standard language”, it is called a dialect. Para.3 Geography also plays a part in making dialects.

1. What’s the standard English that many people believe?(Para.1) It’s believed to be the English spoken on TV and the radio.

3.Why are there so many dialects in the U.S.? (Para.2) Because people have come from all over the world. So geography also plays a part in making dialects.
