Overview of our partnership- when did it start, and how has it formed Our Journey to Date

Partnership A partnership is an arrangement where parties, known as partners, agree to cooperate to advance their mutual interests Organizations  may partner together to increase the likelihood of each achieving their mission What is a partnership? How is it defined?

There are many ways that partners can help, some are in the more traditional advisory board style, others are in the less traditional such as internships for teachers, tours for faculty and being able to help and shape the program We are going to share with you some of the ways we are partnering How Partners Can Help

Mentor Program Once a month Presentation/activity led by mentor Discussion in table groups with mentors Lunch provided 1 hour of mentors time Total of 45 mentors (10 floating) Overview of the mentor program

"I would like to thank my mentor this past year "I would like to thank my mentor this past year. Steve you were an amazing guy with positive energy. I remember every time you gave me a piece of advice I'd take it to heart and utilize that.“ “I would like to thank my mentor this past year. I'd like to thank you for your positive attitude and the fact that you always showed up. I remember a time when, you told me about my job at Chuck E Cheese and how no matter what, the customer is always right and if I live by that then my job will become easier and it did, so thank you!” “I would like to thank my mentor this past year. For teaching me terminology used in the work place. I would also like to thank you for showing me how to communicate in the work place. Thank you Mike for also preparing me for my future job interviews.” Here are some comments the students have about their mentors at the end of the year

Mock Interviews Industry interview students Panel interviews of 2-3 mentors Students go through 2 interviews Provided feedback for both interviews Part of English final grade (along with resume) Industry help prep resumes and for interviews Overview of mock interviews

Tours Visit many different manufacturers Allows for students to see real life experiences Provides great insight into how what they are learning at school applies to the real world Faculty and Student tours Overview of Tours

Internships Grid Alternatives Careers in Manufacturing (Stanislaus County Initiative) E. & J. Gallo Winery Sconza Candy Flory Industries Teacher Internships though local county program

There is a 4 step approach to building relationships/partnershiops- we have based it on our relationship to date

Step 1 Build Your Network Step 1- Build your network, this step is all about understanding who is around you, and how they can really help to build partnerships- the link you are looking for may be right on your door step or back yard Step 1 Build Your Network

Many of these are big names, yes it would be great to have Starbucks be your partner, however, it can be hard to get into the door of these big companies, and in addition many have high turnover/movement of leaders

Research Who are your local industries? Specifically locally based industries who have steady leadership. Where do your student’s family members work? Who on faculty has connections with industry? Reasearch your local community- go to the local chamber of commerce, meet with you alliance worknets, ask them for contacts Look at your local community who are your key industries, which are based in the area, which are based elsewhere Who do you family know? Who do your students parents work for, who on faculty has contacts

Step 2 Reach Out

Reaching Out The idea of reaching out and selling the program make you feel like this?

Write your Pitch Know your product or service well Avoid giving a canned pitch Tell a story with your pitch Use simple language Keep it short Describe how it will benefit them Treat your pitch as a conversation

Step 3 Promote Your Product

Promote Products Brochures YouTube Open Houses Testimony’s from students or industry

Step 4- Value Feedback and Time

Make the best use of time, how can you incorporate multiple asks at the same meeting?
