The Canvas Gradebook: Can display grades as points, percentages, complete or incomplete, GPA scale or as a letter grade The default gradebook view is to view all students at a time, but an instructor can also view students individually If your course includes multiple graders, note that an individual grader must refresh the page in the gradebook if making any changes and so that other graders can view these changes

Gradebook Views:

Learning Mastery View The Learning Mastery Gradebook view is tied to outcome standards that were created for the course. Users can import account, state and Common Core Standards into an account or course or create new standards in the Outcomes area of the course.

Individual Gradebook View The Individual Gradebook view allows user to assess one stuent and one assignment at a time and is fully accessible for screen readers.

Gradebook History View A user can view the history of all Gradebook changes in your course using the Gradebook History page. It is a read-only log that allows a user to see who graded each assignment (for multiple graders) Options are available to filer grading history by student, grader, assignment and date.

Way to Filter and Sort Gradebook Views Basics: Alphabetized by students’ last names In the gradebook settings, you can enable “notes” to show (column) about some or all students You can also hide students’ names to when grading to eliminate bias To sort columns, click the heading of the column and use the blue arrow to display ascending or descending order

The Gradebook Decoded Each column in the gradebook represents an assignment, graded discussion or quiz. The columns are automatically created when you create anything to be graded. Warning Icons and Colors The blue warning icon notifies the user that the assignment is part of an assignment group with no points possible and cannot be included in the final grade calculation, or the assignment does not count toward the final grade. The black warning icon notifies a user that the final score does not include one of the assignment groups because the group has zero points possible (the warning will tell you which assignment group is affected). This icon only displays in the total column related to assignment group errors. There are different colors with various meanings in the Gradebook. Here you can see what each color represents: Yellow Shading [1]: Resubmitted assignment Pink Shading [2]: Late submission Gray Lined Shading [3]: Dropped grade

Turnitin Icons (Plagiarism Checker + Grading) If a user created a turnitin assignment, the Gradebook displays Turnitin score icons in the Gradebook. To view details of the score, click the icon and view more details in SpeedGrader: Gray icon [1]: Originality report has not been generated yet Color icon [2]: Originality report has returned a score; the color is based on the originality percentage score

What is the Canvas Speedgrader? As an instructor, SpeedGrader allows you to view and grade student assignment submissions in one place using a simple point scale or complex rubric. Canvas accepts a variety of document formats and even URLs as assignment submissions. Some document assignments can be marked up for feedback directly within the submission. You can also provide feedback to your students with text or media comments. When Would I Use SpeedGrader? You can use SpeedGrader to: Sort submissions by student and hide student names for anonymous grading View submission details for each student, including resubmitted assignments Use rubrics to assign grades   Leave feedback for your students Track your grading progress and hide assignments while grading View submissions in moderated assignments

Speedgrader View For each student, SpeedGrader has five areas: View student submissions (text entries, website URLs, media recordings, and/or file uploads); preview supported file types in Canvas DocViewer; review other file format submissions using the document previewer or Google Preview Assign a grade based on your preferred assessment method (points or percentage) View Rubric to assist with grading (if one is added to the assignment) View comments created by you or the student about the assignment Create text, video, and/or audio commentary for the student
