Roman Religion Religion was very important to the Romans They adopted many of the Greek gods as their own and borrowed ideas from other cultures to create their group of gods and goddesses

Roman Religion Romans wanted to please the gods because they believed the gods were in control of the daily life of the Romans People would leave offerings to the gods at the many shrines in the city ranging from food to animals

Roman Religion When someone was sick, the Romans would leave a clay piece shaped like that body part at the shrines to try and please the gods Special days or holidays were created to celebrate the gods, but the Romans practiced religion on a daily basis

Roman Religion In time the Romans came to worship their emperors on the same level as the gods themselves The Romans welcomed new ideas as the empire expanded as long as it did not discourage loyalty to the emperor
