Research Simulation tasks involve the gathering and inclusion of important information from several texts in various media formats on a particular topic or question. In other words, citing information from various texts or videos to help support your response. Research simulation tasks include taking notes, as providing a list of sources.

Sources of Information Sources for the task can include quotes from: Videos Articles about a Topic Readings Primary Source (or written as a first hand account)

Question for Chapter 15 Task Objective: You have read two sources and watch a video about Gandhi and nonviolence. “Contributions of Mohandas Gandhi” “Speech to All- India Congress” “Salt March Video”

Question Write an essay focusing your response on how nonviolence is an effective strategy to bring about change. Focus on how Gandhi uses nonviolence successfully to show how nonviolence is an effective strategy. 3 reasons in your thesis should state 3 ways Gandhi used successfully. Cite information from at least two of the sources to support your response (with at least 3 quotes necessary).

EXPLAIN – Explain how your evidence supports your answer. 5. RECAP – Summarize your main point. End with a line explaining why this information is important to understand. (Final Paragraph)

Citation Example Explain the quote after inserting into your response. One way Gandhi used nonviolence effectively was through the Salt March. The Salt March, which took place from March to April 1930 in India, was an act of nonviolence led by Mohandas Gandhi to protest British rule in India. According to Document C (Salt March Video), “men and women both were a part of these protests, and British police were left confused on whether to jail Gandhi or not, as he used nonviolence to protest.” The British were unable to decide whether to jail Gandhi and the other protestors because they were using nonviolence and were not breaking any laws with their protests.
