Jackson – The Inauguration Washington, DC 10,000+ crowded into DC to witness Jackson’s inauguration At the time, the right to vote was limited to upper class & wealthy 3x as many voters as 1824 Jackson promised to throw rich out and return government to “the people” Supporters packed the White House & destroyed the place in “celebration”
