Meeting Outcomes: To provide SEES Core & Regional Partners with: Information on current participant status for SEES Project grant. An update on our annual progress through evaluation data. An update on the SEES Projects Intensive Professional Development Fall 2016 training. Information on the California Science Test. Update on 2016-2017 Coaching and Lesson Study. Discussion time for suggestions for possible energy related work-based learning opportunities in our area and other science related partnerships.
SEES Project Goals Improve teachers’ knowledge regarding science and engineering integration in NGSS. Improve teachers’ ability to create, adapt, and teach integrated activities using science and engineering practices, crosscutting concepts, and disciplinary core ideas emphasizing performance expectations for students. Improve teachers’ self-efficacy in regards to integrated science and engineering subject matter. Improve participating teachers’ and their students’ knowledge and interest level in STEM subjects, specifically science with integrated engineering practices. 5. Improve participating teachers’ leadership skills and provide them with opportunities to demonstrate these skills around science and engineering topics.

SRI Case Study of SEES Initiated by the University of California Office of the President Examined how successfully SEES helped teachers implement curriculum materials and teaching approaches that align with the Next Generation Science Standards. 4 Data sources: teacher surveys, teacher artifacts (PQP & 5E Lessons), Interviews, and observations of intensive sessions.
