Risk Management on the ROL “RM Approved” means that a referee has been live scanned (digitally fingerprinted) AND Cal South has received the results back from the Department of Justice. Only individuals 18 and older must get their live scan done as they are now legal adults. Minors are automatically RM Approved until they turn 18. Once 18, they are given a 90 day grace period to get the live scan done. On average, it takes approximately 14 days from the date of the live scan to get the results back.
Risk Management on the (ROL) Each referee must use their legal name as stated on their legal identification card because their RM approval results come back with their legal name. If they registered as an official using a nick name, the RM department will not be able to match the record. This will delay their approval from reflecting in their profile. Minors close to becoming 18 are sent emails from Cal South to remind them to get their live scan done once they turn 18. Once the 90 day grace period passes for those minors who recently turned 18, Cal South removes them from the ROL. However, an email is sent to them letting them know that they have been removed along with instructions on how to get live scanned. Once their live scan results are in, they are placed back on the ROL and their record is updated. Through the mail, the updated Referee ID is sent.
Referee Picture Uploaded When someone registers for the first time in the Cal South system, they must create an account with their own ID Name and password to access the system. Each referee is responsible for uploading his/her picture to their account which is used for their referee ID card. They can accomplish this during their annual registration process or by logging into their profile. Pictures need to be without obstruction to their identity. For example, no sunglasses, huge hats, funny backgrounds, pets, small pictures, or blurry pictures.

Referee ID Card Each referee receives one Cal South Referee ID card. Cal South ID cards are printed and mailed once a week in bulk. These cards are essential for the official and must be taken with them when they work a game of any Cal South affiliated league. The RM expiration date on the card lets the official know when a minor has expired his RM approval, and then he/she needs to get the live scan. A new card will be issued at that point. Lost cards can be replaced at a cost of $10.
