West of England Genomic Medicine Centre: Our Progress to Date Skin SSG 13th September 2017 Suriya Kirkpatrick, Genomic Champion Catherine Carpenter-Clawson, Programme Manager

100,000 Genomes project and genomic medicine - aims Initiative to perform Whole Genome Sequencing on 100,000 samples from NHS patients Make ‘genomic medicine’ part of standard care Diagnosis Prognosis Personalised treatment

Why would you want to be involved? West of England Genomics Medicine Centre – our objectives Complete whole genome sequencing of approx. 4,150 samples from patients & family. Both cancer and rare disease patients Access to programme across the region Actively consenting until Sept 2018 Facilitate integration of whole genome sequencing into standard clinical care pathways. Why would you want to be involved? Opportunity to conduct whole genome sequencing on key cohorts of cancer patients with an aim to improve understanding of the genomics of tumours and to support future of targeted therapies (Preparation for mainstreaming of genomic medicine as standard)
