TACO Programme- Lessons Learned/Top tips CNSP’s should discuss the migration to HSCN with customers as early as possible to understand if the migration can be performed in business hours (08:00-18:00 hrs) or they require an out of hours migration. This is a key question on the TACO portal and once known enables the raising of the Migration Request. Raise Migration Requests as soon as possible on the TACO portal even if a migration date isn’t yet known, assuming the timing of the slot is confirmed (as above). Ensure sufficient power and rack space exists for any new Customer premise equipment (CPE) and circuit NTE’s that are required to support the new HSCN service. This MUST be in addition to the power and rack space being utilised by the BT Legacy CPE as the BT Legacy CPE must remain operational during/following migration. Complete as many pre-checks ahead of a migration as possible to enable successful migration within the 2 hour migration window If a CNSP presence is not being used on site ensure the customer contact is fully briefed on what needs to be done ‘on the day’ and that availability of that on-site resource is confirmed. This will avoid a migration failure.
TACO Programme- Lessons Learned/Top tips If a CNSP is planning to re-utilise any asset that forms a part of the existing BT Legacy service, please engage with the BT TACO Project Manager so the migration approach can be discussed and a plan agreed. This includes customer owned PSTN lines that are being used for the BT Legacy service. Don’t assume each Bespoke or Complex Migration Request will take 4 months to complete, this timeline is to accommodate the most complex of migrations. If it’s a single site but non-standard in some way or the migration approach is not ‘standard’ because it needs specific treatment, these will be processed much quicker by BT. That said, the earlier dialogue begins the better for all concerned. BT Legacy Overlay services must be ceased and replaced with an alternative solution prior to migration of the BT Legacy Data (WAN) service, to ensure service continuity. Re-submission of a Migration Request following a cancellation/failure etc can be actioned as soon as the CNSP has received the cancellation KCI notification. Configuration information should be requested in advance of a Migration Date and is recommended to be requested at the time a Migration is booked.
