When using your analytical skills • Don’t tell – advocate, research and recommend • Broaden your scope – always be learning & willing to share • Take yourself out of your comfort zone • Be visible and a go-to person • Think of all possible outcomes of a decision or process, and who it will affect (ex. System users, customers we support, analysts who pull the data) • Become self-reliant • Understand data / know what the data consists of • Use current/meaningful data • Be aware of restrictions and/or limitations of the data (i.e., what it doesn’t show) • Develop strong time management and prioritization skills • Interpersonal communication

Suggestions for Development Work on projects identified after your team’s survey Give technical or procedural suggestions for improvement to your lead or manager Become a SME or the go-to person for something Volunteer to lead, train or coach Present a class Pull the position description (PD) and critical job elements (CJEs) of the job you’re interested in Create a career learning plan (CLP) with your manager with areas of interest and future advancement.
