Hall C Down Stream Beam Pipe And Dump Interface Design Presentation illustrating possible interchangeable Beam Pipe configurations or future use of BPM’s or other existing beam pipes with viewers Dan Young 6/18/15 Ext 5255

Will help accommodate any future need to install a Beam Pipe with instrumentation or view ports upstream of Beam Dump Entrance with out any changes to Beam Dump Pipe. Coordinating details and position with Dump Design Team Config #2 – Optional - BPM Dummy Spools will be made to totally replace the new BPM Assemblies. Config #3 – Uses BPM Outer Shells as external Beam Pipe even if internals are removed. See additional slide of BPM Outer Shell concept to verify flange geometry will not be problematic. Note: Beam View Section has now been relocated inside the Beam Dump area and is similar to the one used in Hall A. For details see Accelerator Group SHMS Down Stream Beam Line and BPM Installation

Mating Flange Geometry at 32” O.D. 24” I.D. Mating Flange Geometry at Down Stream Beam Pipe and Beam Dump Pipe Interface 1081.048 from Target Center (Seal is on the upstream side of interface)

Considerations taken from input: 1) Downstream Beampipe / Dump Beam Pipe interface is a few inches forward of the new Dump Entrance Gate. 2) Qweak Viewer is scrap and has currently been replaced with a new one located on the 24” Dump Beam Pipe similar to the Hall A design. However, space was reserved to allow for any future need to install new section of beam pipe equipped with instrumentation or viewers (Spool 1) without impacting the dump beam pipe. Config #2 and #3 3) The 24” inch existing Bellows/Cradle will be positioned as shown to rest on the Dump Service Platform. Typical all Configs 4) BMPs will be made to a length that will allow the use of existing beam pipe section with pump out port (67299-56071) Config #3 5) Optional Spools may be made to replace or reserve the position for the full BMP Assembly Section Config #2
