Review last week lesson

When did Nicodemus meet with Jesus? "There was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews“ True or False True When did Nicodemus meet with Jesus?  After all the city had slept  Early in the morning before dawn "This man came to Jesus by night and said to Him, 'Rabbi, we know that You are...' A teacher come from God From Nazareth

What did Jesus say to Nicodemus that surprised him? Nicodemus you are a trouble maker Uncles you come to me during the day you can’t see the kingdom of God.. Don’t come late at night again “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God” What question did Nicodemus ask Jesus? How can anyone understand these sayings How can a man become young when he is old How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?” Yes, you have to enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?” Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God

Nicodemus believed in what Jesus said that he defended our Lord Jesus in front of the Pharisees and he also anointed Jesus’ body at His burial together with Joseph of Arimathea. True or False True Today we learn that second birth means that we all have to go back to our mommy's womb to be born again. True or False False Baptism is important..... For our salvation. With baptism, we become children of God. By baptism our sins are forgiven All of the above

In order for someone to change he needs: The Christian life is . . .  A modification or improvement of the old  A transformation of nature, a death sin, and a new life with Jesus In order for someone to change he needs: Powerful muscles To wear different cloth everyday Strong will FILL IN THE BLANKS: Most assuredly I say to you, unless one is born of ------ and the--- --, he cannot enter the Kingdom of God.” (John 3:5) Water, Spirit

First baptism Second baptism

Michael: Exactly! Our Lord Jesus taught us that: Bishoy: Nicodemus story taught me that change begins with a strong will. I also learned that without the second birth, I cannot enter the Kingdom of God. Michael: Exactly! Our Lord Jesus taught us that: “He who believes and is baptized will be saved.” Mark 16:16 With baptism, we become children of God. Also with baptism, we receive forgiveness of sins.

Bishoy: How. Isn’t baptism for babies Bishoy: How? Isn’t baptism for babies? I know that boys get baptized when they are 40 days old and the girls when they are 80 days old. What sins did they do? Michael: Well, each person is born with the original sin, the one we inherited from Adam and Eve. But through God’s redemption and His death on the Cross for our salvation, We are saved. So for us to deserve this redemption and forgiveness, we have to be baptized. Michael also said: St. Peter said in his sermon on the day of the Pentecost, “Repent and let everyone of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” (Acts 2:38) Bishoy: Do you mean that when the baby is baptized, he receives a new life? Michael: That’s right! With baptism, we’re born again. Our Lord Jesus through His redemption and death on the Cross, renewed our nature and gave us a new life.

Bishoy: That’s why our Lord Jesus told Nicodemus, “unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the Kingdom of God”. Michael: Yes, very good Bishoy. You got it. Let’s do a comparison between the first and second birth. Bishoy: Ok

First birth Second birth Earthly Heavenly Of the body Of the Spirit From a man and a woman From God (Jesus is our new father and the Church is our new mother) Born with the sentence of death that we inherited Through baptism, the sentence of death was taken because our Lord Jesus died for us Because of the sin of Adam and Eve, we were separated from God Our nature was renewed, and we could live with God

True or False First Birth = Baptism In the first birth: Jesus is our new father and the church is our new mother. In the first birth, our inherited sins are forgiven After the second birth our nature is renewed. The second birth is done through water and spirit. The first birth is earthly but the second birth is heavenly. Through God’s redemption and His death on the Cross for our salvation, We are saved. So for us to deserve this redemption and forgiveness, we have to get baptized.
