ICARE Duluth SDA Church Elders CARE New initiative for elders ICARE Duluth SDA Church Elders CARE

Preaching is a small part of the work to be done for the salvation of souls. God’s Spirit convicts sinners of the truth, and he places them in the arms of the church. The ministers may do their part, but they can never perform the work that the church should do. God requires his church to nurse those who are young in faith and experience, to go to them, not for the purpose of gossiping with them, but to pray, to speak unto them words that are “like apples of gold in pictures of silver.” [Proverbs 25:11.] {GW92 322.4}

ICARE Duluth SDA Church Elders CARE Purpose: Standardizing interactions with every visitor and new believer of Duluth church so no one falls through the cracks. Objective: ICARE will become a best practice that needs to become automatic for all members of Duluth church. Goal: ICARE to become the Duluth Church Way which represents the welcoming Christlike virtue that is accepting of all who have an interest in knowing Him better.

“A” Ask/Anticipate Needs or Concerns Inform them about the service. Invite them to or help them find a seat. Show them where the bathrooms are. Ask if there is anything you can do to make them comfortable.

“R” Respond to Requests- attentiveness Listen. Follow thru with whatever they ask for. Read non-verbal communication.

“E” Exit- courteously and give space Thank them for coming and close greeting in a courteous way. Call them by their name. Introduce them to another member.

“Did I Care?” Before making self comfortable, ask... Before leaving, ask… After you have left, ask… Think about how you can do better showing you care.
