Using SSG Plus for In-depth Research Mike Higgins 21 April 2018

Disclaimer Do not buy or sell any stock I happen to mention I have a long tradition - buy high and sell low Not because of failures in research More failure to do what research said I should have done

3 Steps in the Research process (like panning for gold) ID potential candidates for examination Load up the hopper Screen those candidates to a “manageable” number Sift through the pile Do in-depth research to determine which one or two offer the best potential return Pick out the nuggets

Load up the hopper Potential sources include: BI website Ticker Talk, Stock Up, 5in5, First Cut, Heat Map, Most Active Stocks, etc Other websites Youtube, Manifest Investing, Forbes, Yahoo, dripinvesting.org L ibrary Value Line, Morningstar, Money, Forbes, Wall Street Journal, etc Ref: Oct 2016 & Mar 2017 Ticker Talk

Sift through the pile Objective is to reduce to 3-5 candidates Screeners BI website, ValueLine, Morningstar, Brokers,

Up & Straight & Growth on Sale Up & Straight & Profitable Smaller Size, Less History, Faster Growth Up & Straight & Pays Me $$

In Depth Research Tools available on the BI website include: Company Research, BI Magazine, Member Sentiment Link to the company’s website Analyst Estimates from: MarketWatch, Morningstar, NASDAQ, Reuters, Yahoo & Zaks Company Summaries from: Google, Morningstar, Motley Fool, MSN Money, Yahoo

BI Website In-Depth Research Tools (continued) Filings and Transcripts from Seeking Alpha (transcript of latest Qtr financial call), SEC EDGAR filings (10-K(annual report), 10-Q, All) (see Nov 2015 Ticker Talk on Browser Tips) Financial Statements from: Morningstar, Reuters Key Statistics from: Finviz, Morningstar Key Ratios (see Apr 2016 TT), Yahoo Price Charts from: Big Charts, StockCharts Weekly Chart (Nov 2015 TT)

My BI Based Sequence Use BI Screener to find “up, straight, parallel” 1st cut at SSG (ignorant version) Get info – usually Value Line ID & Evaluate potential competitors (Buy the Best) 2nd cut at SSG (slightly less ignorant version) Start digging into Research tab Company website, financial reports, transcripts, charts, Morningstar Reports & Key Ratios Get Second opinion(s) Manifest Investing, Member Sentiment, Motley Fool, Seeking Alpha, First Cut Update SSG as required If it makes sense - Do it
