Most pressing concern— Supply List 1 or 1 ½ inch binder with paper Dividers Black ink pens and pencils Highlighters *Composition notebook for journaling *Dry erase marker Honors English students will need access to novel selections (can be purchased, viewed on-line, or borrowed from teacher).

English Department Offerings 9th Grade: English 9 and Honors English 9 10th Grade: English 10 and Honors English 10 11th Grade: English 11, Honors English 11, and A. P. Language 12th Grade: English 12, Honors English 12, A. P. Literature, Dual Credit English (Paul D. Camp Community College) Electives- Yearbook (Photojournalism) & Public Speaking SOL Tests in Reading & Writing are given only in the 11th Grade. (Yay!)

Differences between English 9 and Honors 3 Keys Pacing Rigor Expected Independence Honors requires more writing, particularly literary analysis and argumentation. All students will an A or B average may enroll in Honors English10.

How to be Successful Do your homework– FOR EVERY CLASS! Don’t copy your friend’s homework; do your own. Homework includes the assigned reading! Be organized– keep up with your papers and turn work in on time. Check YOUR grades online EVERY DAY! Come to class as much as possible. Make up your work promptly. Ask for help when you need it. ****Choose your friends wisely.****
