A Resident’s Role Post-Katrina? Locating dispersed residents from near & far Facilitating community dialogue on neighborhood recovery Bringing together resources (human, material, & financial) Bringing information to residents from various authorities Helping shape community vision for recovery & long-term future (Vision for an energy efficient, sustainable community)

Preferred Skills/Experiences in Entry-level Hires Community-based outdoor field experiences in the environment Eagerness and/or experience in engaging many different groups/audiences from a diverse array of backgrounds Experience in convening/facilitating group meetings, etc.

Results – Coastal & Environmental Completed implementation of NOLA WISE program with the U.S. Department of Energy grant resources Began assessment of energy usage of active municipal buildings and structures Coordinated with Sewerage and Water Board and other key agencies such as City Planning Commission on City’s new storm water management permit and program

Results – Coastal & Environmental Strategic partnership with the S&WB, LA Coastal Protection & Restoration Authority, US. Army Corps of Engineers and others on water management and flood protection High quality rating from LA Dept. of Natural Resources on Local Coastal Zone Management Program Recycled 9,000 Christmas trees for coastal wetlands restoration in Bayou Sauvage in New Orleans East Hosted community coastal forums in partnership with National Wildlife Federation
