Metallic Bonding

Metallic Bonding Metals form a special type of bond with each other. Metals often form a lattice in the solid state. In a metal lattice: 8~12 other metal atoms closely surround each metal atom.

Metallic Bonding In a metal lattice, there is a unique arrangement of electrons. This is called the electron sea model because all the valence electrons surround all the metals in a metal lattice like a “sea”.
