Culture Week 2016 February 1 - 5

Culture Week 2016 Culture Week is an opportunity to celebrate the diversity of ISB’s multicultural student community! During this annual event, students have the chance to hear from parents, teachers, other students, and friends about their cultural and international experiences, including workshops about: music, dance, food and art from other cultures what it’s like to travel to, live or work in another country growing up in another culture and moving to the U.S.   Our theme this year is human migration.  Activities will include a key note speaker and an international assembly on Monday, discussions about ancestry in Tuesday advisory, discussions about immigration in humanities classes, cultural/international speakers and activity sessions on Wednesday and Thursday mornings and cultural dress day and international night on Friday.

Culture Week 2016 Registration Details Open from Tuesday, January 19th – Tuesday, January 26th Teachers will give instructions to students via a presentation during January 19th Advisory class Separate registration link for Middle School & High School If you are unable to register during Jan 19th Advisory class, you can register at home or get a Library pass to register on a computer there anytime 1/19 – 1/26 Any student NOT registered by the deadline will be registered by the Registration Administrator in any available workshop Info on Culture Week Registration will be: on the ISB Website, in Culture Week Registration “Quick Link” in mid-January emails

Rules of Registration Each workshop needs to be different, so you will have 4 DIFFERENT workshops. For Wednesday – you will choose Session 1 – one workshop M-1xx Session 2 – one workshop M-2xx For Thursday – you will choose Session 3 – one workshop M-3xx Session 4 – one workshop M-4xx Make sure you haven’t picked the same workshop for multiple sessions! For example M-101, M-201, M-301, M-401 are all the same workshop, just at different days/times.

Workshop Registration Details From the drop downs you will choose 1 workshop for each of the 4 sessions If your first choice is full (grayed out), select another workshop during that session Most workshops are offered 4 times. If you can’t get your first choice on Wed Session 1, look for that same workshop on Wed Session 2 or on Thurs Sessions 3 or 4. For example M-101, M-201, M-301, M-401 are all the same workshop, just at different days/times.

Special Workshop Notes The Holocaust workshops are double sessions. There are also slots for High School students. This year, instead of just raising money during lunchtime, we are going to do a Flash Mob (at International Night at ISB, and other locations) to help raise awareness about the challenging issues facing migrants around the world. We hope that in addition to raising awareness, our Flash Mob dance will inspire donations to Mercy Corps, our keynote speaker!
