Authority denotes rule, control, influence, weight, permission, privilege, and power to act when someone has authority they have charge of others with responsibility beyond the norm exousia (ex-oo-see'-ah) conferred power; delegated empowerment (authorization) “empowered because authorized”
Authority Matthew 5:21-48 “You have heard that it was said to the people long ago… But I tell you… Indicating Jesus’ authority even over the Law of Moses The one who follows Jesus must be a changed person! A changed person has spiritual authority 2 Corinthians 5:17 (NASB) Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come. Ezekiel 36:26-27 A new heart I will give you, and a new spirit I will put within you; and I will remove from your body the heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. I will put my spirit within you, and make you follow my statutes and be careful to observe my ordinances.

In Jesus’ name (In His authority) Matthew 16:13-19 Jesus established His name- The Christ Matthew 18:18-20 “Where two or three are gathered in My name, there I am in the midst of them.”
In Jesus’ name (In His authority) “In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new languages, they will pick up serpents; and [even] if they drink anything deadly, it will not hurt them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will get well.” (Mark 16:17-18) “I will do whatever you ask for in my name” (John 14:13-14; 16:24)
In Jesus’ name (In His authority) Peter cured a lame man ‘in the name of Jesus’ (Acts 3:6; 4:7-10) Baptism, forgiveness of sins and salvation were brought ‘in Jesus’ name’ (Acts 19:5; Luke 24:47) The Gospel was proclaimed ‘in Jesus’ name’ (Acts 9:27-28; 4:17-20;5:28,40) Evil spirits were cast out ‘in Jesus’ name’ (Acts 16:18; 19:13-16)
