Welcome to Gate Double Peak k8 School Gate Parent Meeting October 17, 2016

What is gate? The philosophy of Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) in the San Marcos Unified Schools, in affiliation with parents and community mentors, is to provide a challenging education to all students identified as gifted and talented, and to build on their inherent strengths by developing critical thinking, creative ability, high level problem solving skills, and positive self-concepts to enhance personal and academic success.

DPS Gate mission statement As part of our Leader in Me program, our GATE students will be developing the GATE mission statement for our school. Our 1st meeting with our students will be on Friday, October 28th at 12:30-1:00 in room E231.

WHat does gate look like at dps? CLASSROOM: Your child will be placed in a classroom with a GATE certified teacher who will provide differentiated instruction based on your child's needs. Additionally, your child's teacher will implement a variety of appropriate instructional models, techniques, and approaches based on current research and training in the teaching of the gifted.

WHat does gate look like at dps? DPK8: At Double Peak, we want our GATE students to take the lead and be in charge of this unique learning opportunity. We want to provide a program that offers students choices in which extracurricular opportunities they will participate in. We want them to take ownership and pride with GATE at DPS. We will be asking your students what they see a need in at our school and implementing some of their ideas.

WHat does gate look like at dps? COMMUNITY: We would like our GATE students to take ownership in community projects throughout the school year. Each year, our GATE students will take part in a community project that will benefit a current need. We look forward to our students using the motto "Think Differently" to create and develop new ideas for our school and community.
